This is the part of the site where I’m supposed to introduce myself personally to anyone who’s made it this far. I suppose I should apologize right from the start for how bored you’re about to be, I promise not to take it personally if you decide not to continue. I’m a simple man with simple goals. All I want are the same things my father and his father before him wanted. To make sure my family lives the most comfortable life I can provide for them and to give my kids more opportunities than I had. At the same time, I never want to hate how I do it. I figure, if I’m going to spend the bulk of my life trying to earn a living, I may as well do something I don’t hate. I’m a weird split of an old school guy and a modern tech nerd. I believe in old fashioned ideas like hard work, honesty, respect, and decency. But I’m also passionate, curious, constantly learning, and always trying to better myself and everyone around me.
All that said, above all I am and always have been a nerd. I joke that I’m a classically trained nerd in that I love comic books, video games, tabletop role playing games, along with reading, math, history, and pretty much every other school subject. Except gym class. Gym was an unhappy experience for me and everybody else involved. Ignoring that for a moment, I’m a lifelong learner and spend time every day studying new things and expanding my skill set. Not just to help me pay my bills but because I love learning and consider it an important part of my life. That’s just the kind of person I am.

My Life
I love tech, art, and working with my hands. I also love creating something from nothing and finding the hidden patterns in the world around me. On top of that I have a level of obsession when I start working on things. I can’t seem to fully step away from a project until it’s done. All of that said, all I really want is to live my life and take care of my family. I have no interest in climbing any corporate ladders or becoming any kind of leader. I’d rather explore my interests and passions, expand my skill set and network, and pay my bills. Along the way I hope to make the world a better place and help whoever I can whenever I can.

Who I am
Above everything, I’m a family man. I have a wife and 3 kids that I love and would do anything for them. That’s why I push the way I do. On my own, if I have 4 walls and a WI-FI connection, I’m pretty much good and wouldn’t work for much more. I’ve worked very hard throughout the years to provide everything for their benefit and have no issue pushing myself to provide everything they want and need. There are up and down sides to having such a strong external motivation. On the upside, I’m completely self-motivated and put everything I have into my work for their benefit. On the downside, if my family’s taken care of, I have no interest in finding a better job or becoming anybody’s boss. That’s really all there is to it. I love my wife. I love my kids. I want them to have the most amazing life I can provide. And I hope to find some small joy in my work. Even better if I can do that using the skills I’ve developed over a lifetime as a hardworking, old fashioned, nerd.

My Family
I’m a small-town, working-class guy. I grew up in the motel my family owned and worked with my dad to keep everything up and running and my mom to man the office, handle the finances, and make our customers felt welcome. I spent my childhood learning the value of having a wide skill set and being able to adapt to situations. As I got older, I took on customer service and labor jobs and continued to expand and polish my skills whenever possible.
Eventually I found myself as a laborer in a wood products factory where I spent more than a decade working my way up to machine operator and eventually production technician where I established and developed my analytical and data collection skills. In my time here I presented ideas and improvements with evidence, charts, and tangible strategies to move forward to my bosses and their bosses on a regular basis and made strides for efficiency and productivity.

My History
The pandemic changed everything and forced us all to reevaluate our lives. For me it led to a reexamination of my skills and online certificates. Then to my current role with Artech. The remote nature of my position has allowed me to reconnect with my family and to be a bigger part of their lives. It also allowed me to expand my skills while I decided what direction my career should take. I learned some programming, I studied some design, and I read up on business management and decision making. I considered everything and set my new career goals.
I want to find a business analyst role that allows me to work remotely from anywhere in the world in support of a large company’s goals. That’s it, I don’t need career advancement, and I don’t care what field the business I work for is in. I just want a touch of independence and a chance to use my skills to support my family.
